Donut Day

It is Donut Day!!
This national Donut Day is on the first Friday of June each year.
It started during in 1917 with 2 volunteers of the Salvation Army who prepared donuts and coffee for the soldiers.
In 1938 a young military doctor, sent to a military base, bought on his way 8 dozen donuts and gave one every time he helped a wounded soldier.
The Salvation Army created then the event to honour the men and women who fought during the war.

National Handshake Day

The last Thursday of each June, Americans celebrate National Handshake Day.
You are supposed to shake the hand of at least one person that you would not have on any other day. And then? YWell, you wish them a good day and... you can stop there or keep on chatting!
The tradition of handshaking is very ancient, as texts and ruins dating back to the archaeological era show that handshaking was already practiced in ancient Greece in the 5th century BC.
